Todd Vision is a biologist at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and directs the informatics program at the US National Evolutionary Synthesis Center (http://nescent.org), an interdisciplinary science incubator. In recent years, he has become deeply on a variety of fronts in efforts to shape the future of scholarly communication, particularly regarding the preservation of research data associated with the scholarly record. Â In 2007, he co-founded the Dryad Digital Repository (http://datadryad.org), which preserves, and provides free access to, research data underlying the scientific and medical literature, and achieves this though technical partnerships with many different journals, scientific societies, and publishers. Â He also serves on the Leadership Team of the DataONE Network (http://dataone.org), the ORCID Board of Directors (http://orcid.org) and the National Science Foundation Advisory Committee in Cyberinfrastructure.
