About

The conference to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the SciELO Network will bring together authorities and experts on research and scholarly communication. The gathering aims to address and discuss the state of the art in Open Access scholarly communication and the challenges faced in improving academic journals and the SciELO Program itself.

The conference program is composed of the following sections:

  • Policies in Research and Scholarly Communication
    advances in national research and scholarly communication policies of emerging and developing countries with emphasis on the improvement of national capacities and infrastructures; the inclusion of research in the global flows of scholarly information and the role played by national and regional journals.
  • Open Access – Current State and Trends
    the current state and trends in the Open Access movement and modus operandi in the publishing of journals with emphasis on financial models, expanding the presence of journals to more of the world’s indices, and journal impact.
  • Scientometrics – Measurement of Research and Journal Quality
    the application of scientometrics methodologies and tools to the evaluation of research quality with emphasis on the needs and peculiarities of the different disciplines in the research that is  published in emerging and developing country journals, and on the use of national languages other than English.
  • Trends and Innovations in Scholarly Communication
    the principal trends and innovations in international scholarly communication with emphasis on their application to the indexing, editing, publishing and dissemination of journals from emerging and developing countries.
  • Experiences, Solutions, and Products and Services in Scholarly Communication
    presentations, demos and displays of products and services by national and international companies that offer state of the art solutions to the professionalization and internationalization of academic journal publishing.

There will be simultaneous interpretation of the conference presentations into Portuguese, English and Spanish. The conference will also include courses and meetings on scholarly communication.

Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy local social, cultural and sporting events from an extensive guide that will also have a restaurant map of São Paulo’s excellent cuisine.
